This event is part of Mount Shasta Bioregional Ecology Center’s free Family Nature Walk series.
Join us and artist Marcus Maria Jung for a nature walk on Saturday, August 19th. In this guided nature walk we will explore a different way of experiencing nature. With Marcus’ guidance we will open up to see and feel nature through our ‘artist eyes’: Being inspired by nature and trees to fill our creative well within. Exercise, meditation with trees, and sharing our experience with each will be a part of this nature walk.
Expect an easy-level (about 1 mile) hike around Gumboot Lake. Be prepared for an easy-going walk with several stops. We will meet at the Red Sand Beach parking lot also called “Cable Beach” on Lake Siskiyou at 9:30am. From there, we will caravan to Gumboot Lake. Please wear appropriate walking shoes, bring a water bottle, and consider sunscreen. We will provide a snack.
Marcus Maria Jung is an artist who is working with nature and trees in his sculptural work, site-specific installations, art performances, and photography. He has been teaching natural wood sculpture classes and has initiated and realized site-specific art installations in collaboration with art and ecology organizations and projects. His artistic expression is focused on healing and reclaiming our relationship with nature and trees.
